Features
Section titled “Features”Each audio source odio can receive, all mixed through PulseAudio.
BluetoothPair your phone and use the odio Pi as a Bluetooth speaker via BlueZ. Stream any app over A2DP, with track info, transport, and volume sync in the odio UI.
Bluetooth outputPair a Bluetooth speaker or headphones from the odio UI and route any source to it. The speaker shows up as a PulseAudio sink, with AVRCP volume sync.
AirPlayTurn the odio Pi into an AirPlay 2 receiver with shairport-sync. Stream from iPhone, iPad, or Mac, with MPRIS controls and PulseAudio desktop discovery.
Spotify ConnectTurn the odio Pi into a Spotify Connect target via spotifyd. Stream with a Premium account, with MPRIS transport controls and multi-room over Snapcast.
Qobuz ConnectMake the odio Pi a Qobuz Connect endpoint with qbzd. Enable it and sign in from the settings page, then pick the node in the Qobuz app. Feedback welcome.
UPnP / DLNAUse the odio Pi as a UPnP/DLNA renderer via upmpdcli. Browse a NAS or media server from a control point app and play to the Pi, with MPD-backed controls.
Network audio (TCP sink)Send Linux desktop audio to the odio Pi over the network via PulseAudio Zeroconf. Set up the TCP sink on PipeWire or PulseAudio with per-client volume.
MPDMPD handles audio CD and USB playback on the odio node and can serve a NAS library. Includes the myMPD web UI, cover-art pipeline, and MPRIS controls.
Audio CDInsert a CD in a USB optical drive and odio plays it via go-mpd-discplayer, with GnuDB and MusicBrainz metadata, cover art, and MPD transport controls.
USB flash drivesPlug in a USB flash drive and the odio Pi plays it automatically via go-mpd-discplayer, mounting through udisks2, with cover art and MPD transport controls.
Tidal & QobuzAdd Tidal and Qobuz streaming to the odio Pi via upmpdcli. Enable the plugin, authenticate, then browse, search, and play from any UPnP control point app.
WebradiosBrowse and play internet radio on odio, via myMPD, the upmpdcli DLNA library, Home Assistant, or any MPD client.
Multi-room (Snapcast)Run odio nodes as Snapcast clients for synchronized multi-room audio from a Snapserver, with snapclientmpris bridging stream metadata and room controls.
Use cases
Section titled “Use cases”Ways to run odio beyond a dedicated Raspberry Pi, and how it fits with other software.
Overviewodio is a streamer that receives audio from your phone, desktop, HTPC, or NAS, mixes every source through PulseAudio, and gives you unified playback control.
Desktop & LaptopRoute your desktop or laptop audio to an odio node over PulseAudio TCP, AirPlay, or Snapcast, and control playback, volume, and metadata from your browser.
HTPCRoute all home theater PC audio to an odio node DAC, run Kodi or a browser kiosk, and control every source from your phone, the web UI, or Home Assistant.
NASHost your music library on a NAS, run MPD, a MiniDLNA server, or a Snapserver for multi-room, and let odio nodes play synchronized audio in every room.
Phone & TabletStream from your phone or tablet to an odio node over Bluetooth, AirPlay, DLNA, or Spotify Connect, and control playback from the odio app or Home Assistant.
NavidromeStream music to an odio node with Navidrome over PulseAudio TCP, or use jukebox mode to drive the node DAC directly from any Subsonic-compatible client.
Music AssistantConnect Music Assistant to odio nodes over AirPlay, DLNA, or Snapcast, plus MPD and Bluetooth via Home Assistant. Protocol by protocol notes on what works.
